Jill McMahon, Owner
The seed for Outdoor Movement Project was planted in childhood when I spent all of my free time in motion: at the dance studio, on the sports field, or playing outside with neighborhood friends. I have always been happiest when active. I am also a firm believer in the connection between movement and well being. Through experiences with Outward Bound and hiking in college, I realized that being active in outdoor spaces was where I felt most alive.
I founded Kids Movement Project in 2014, when our two boys were 3 and 6 years old. I saw a need for programs connecting kids through physical activities, purely for the goal of moving and having fun. Over many years and iterations, the programs are now focused on connecting kids outdoors, where movement happens naturally. In 2021, I officially changed the name to Outdoor Movement Project.
In the summer of 2020, my boys and I set out to hike the 37 Portland Trails during the pandemic. This led to the creation of the OMP Trail Challenge and Trail Guide. As an adventure seeker, I am energized by exploring new trails and sharing them with you. My hope is that these programs provide your family with a launchpad to an active life outdoors, all year long.
